style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">

1. Tier 2 and Tier 3 VMs – Deploying new apps is fast with virtualization, to the point where sprawl occurs and the Tier 1 SAN needs expanding, time to offload the main SAN of lower-tier VMs and backing up with Veeam

2. Rich-media storage – Individual video, audio, and graphic files from Marketing and other departments add up very quickly, but don’t have the same criticality as databases

3. Expanding file servers – Rich media can fill these up, but so can the usual business files and applications, the same front end can manage lower-cost back-end storage for less critical data

4. Online archiving – HSM of the past called for archiving on low-cost tape, where disk today can be as cost effective at high capacities and enable online access without mounting media

5. Test & Development – Very important to stage & test, but almost impossible to have an exact replica environment; with virtualization the infrastructure does not need to match

6. Disk-based backup – Backup should be lower cost than primary, and having backup on a separate device is also better for high availability / failure domains

7. Utility storage in IT – Playing Tetris while moving large amounts of data is a challenge; everyone could use space in the network for storing things on a temporary and permanent basis

8. Migration – Like utility storage, but in larger organizations migration is a very periodic event, and the more storage you have the harder it is without a place to put it temporarily

9. Research / analysis – These can involve huge data sets, and the more storage the more research that can be done, needs for individual projects are often short-term

10. Dissimilar DR replication – Buying and identical array for replication may not always be feasible, and the 2nd site does not need to be as powerful as primary for recovery of select applications

11. <a During times like these, people tend to increase their need to communicate, to give and get information, to reach out to their friends, family, community, and the world. It's all about information flow. As 2012 draws near, my predications for technology are all about communication and the information stream. Technology in 2012 and beyond will significantly shift and enhance the exchange of information for people and for enterprise organizations.

1. Corporations adopt social networking as a primary communication tool.
2. Death of the laptop?

3. The "To the Cloud" movement continues.

4. The need for Virtualization skills will grow exponentially.

5. The days of owning software are numbered.

6. Real bandwidth to the household.

7. "There are occasions of 180 percent price increases as compared to before the flood," said Tom Coughlin of Coughlin Associates, which tracks the storage industry.

Many one terabyte internal drives, for example, are now priced at $120 and up. These would have been $60 to $80 before the flood, Coughlin said. "Prices (before the flood) were as low as 4 cents a gigabyte, now we're seeing 12 cents. That's a 3X increase," he said.

http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9221409/Hard_drive_shortage_expected_to_hurt_consumers_most

Toshiba and Western Digital have announced a temporary shutdown of Thailand factories.

Toshiba has reported water is 2 meters deep in its storage device plant and 3 meters deep in its semiconductor factory in Thailand.

IHS iSuppli said the flooding could potentially affect notebook production in early 2012.

Two industry research firms, IHS iSuppli and IDC, have predicted that the overall market shortage due to factory flooding in Thailand will reach 25% to 28% over the next six months.

"We generally believe the HDD industry will find way to return to pre-flood production levels by March, but by that point HDD supplies will be at extremely low levels," Rydning said. "It's still going to be a pretty painful period from December through February for most HDD customers."

http://searchitchannel.techtarget.com/news/2240110632/Hard-drive-shortage-ripples-through-channel

The area affected is responsible for meeting nearly 70% of the world’s demand for hard drives, and analysts predict that it will be largely out of commission for two months. The hard drive shortage is expected to last into Q1 of 2012, and channel sales are being affected.

http://www.maximumpc.com/article/news/hard_drive_shortage_takes_toll_motherboard_market

Woe is you if your hard drive gives up the ghost, and not just because of the hassle involved with restoring data from your backups (because you are backing up your files, right?). The other reason it sucks to lose a hard drive right now is because recent flooding in Thailand hit HDD makers pretty hard, resulting in a shortage, which itself has resulted in higher prices. Unfortantely, the trickle down effect doesn't stop there

Jcopia

JCopia 4.7

Have you ever thought how to download video and audio from flash players on internet sites like Youtube, Google Video, MySpace, DailyMotion, Metacafe, Break, Blog sites of your friends with embedded audio and video content and so on?

So, JCopia does it all. It's also a powerful tool for those whose hands are not free to type such as medical professionals; doctors nurses caregivers. My suggestion for hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and VNAs, is a motion computing tablet coupled with a copy of Dragon medical.

Currently there are a lot of tablet computers at a marketplace: Apple iPad, HP touchpad, HP slate, Acer iconia, Cisco Cius, Dell Streak, Motorola xoom, Lenovo ThinkPad, Samsung galaxy tab, Toshiba thrive, Blackberry playbook, HTC Evo View, T-mobile slate, ASUS EEE pad, HTC flyer, Vizio via, ViewSonic viewpad, velocity micro cruz, Coby Kryos, Archos 70, archos 101, Maylong universe, ViewSonic G, Sony dash, Entourage edge, Arnova 10, Nextbook Next3, Sony S1, Sony S2, Arnova 8, MSI windpad, Sylvania 10, Curtis L t7028, gigabyte S1080, AOC breeze, Augen gentouch, creative ziio, Pandigital, Elocity A7, Huawei mediapad, Lenovo ideapad, fusion garage joojoo, Motion Computing, and the Apple ipad2.

At the moment the only pad that will work with Dragon medical 10 is a pad that runs on a Windows platform. HP makes the slate which runs on Windows platform but the processing power of the slate is inadequate to the task of running Dragon medical 10 because the slate currently runs on QUALCOMM snapdragon APQ8060 1.2 GHz processor.

The minimum specifications for Dragon medical 10 is an Intel Pentium 4 or later or AMD Athlon 64 or later. The faster the processor the faster the performance. You need at least 512 MB RAM; one gig of RAM for Windows Vista, and at least two gigs RAM for Windows 7 32 -- bit and 64 -- bit. The RAM on the slate is 1 GB. HP will be coming out with a new slate and if they can boost RAM capabilities then it will be a nice machine to use with Dragon medical 10, especially if they can keep the costs down.

Motion computing has a couple different products that can be used with Dragon medical; the CL 900 tablet, J3500 tablet, C5v tablet, and the F5V tablet. Would be prepared to spend more for these devices than you would for the devices listed earlier. If you're prepared to wait until some of the other tablet manufacturers catch up then do so, but if you're not, and you want to simplify your notetaking and dictation, especially in a medical environment buy a Motion Computing tablet and Dragon medical to test.

Multiplayer Game Codes

Post your multiplayer game codes here
add me
iTunes Games
Mafia Wars iphone player id 5800 6995 28
and 5301 2644 87
Original Ganstaz OG, Global War, iMob Online, Jet Fighters, iKnights
641 276 693 and 641 299 620

HP AIO

HP $586.39

Smart Buy Omni Pro 110 Intel Pentium Dual-Core E6700 3.20GHz All-in-One Business Dektop - 2GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 20" Display, SuperMulti LS DVD, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n, Webcam

Intel Pentium Dual-Core E6700 3.20GHz, 2GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM, 500GB 7200rpm SATA, 20" Display, SuperMulti LS DVD, Intel GMA X4500, VGA Webcam, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n, Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 32-bit, All-in-One

PC Mall Part #: 8320036 Mfr. I am a 26 year old resident of Montreal and a 7 year BlackBerry user.

I have been a loyal and substantially devoted client for a long time. I am however at this point moving on. Unfortunately this last year has been an extremely horrific one for myself personally as I've had to bring my Curve 3G in for repairs several times, had to deal with TELUS (which is by far no treat) and a host of other unfortunate incidents with your last two OS systems that have sent me to the crackberry forums more often than ever before.

I don't know why you did what you did. Perhaps you rushed certain products out? Maybe you tried to compete with brands who have no business in your market? I can't answer for you. It doesn't matter to me personally as I have no personal stake in your organization. Nor do I possess any insight into the corporate culture of RIM. What I do know is that I'm done. It's been heartbreaking for me to say the least.

I will always recall with fondness; the sidewheel, ball and eventually trackpad evolution as it's been fun. Before the past year or so your devices have always proven to be secure, durable and well designed. The individuals I have worked with on a professional level (I resell BES licensing as part of my career) have been fantastic and always reinforced my devotion, especially when the iPhone, Droid or Windows phones came along. And of course you're Canadian which makes this letter even harder to write as your organization has been a feather in our national cap for quite some time.

In any event. I hope whatever you folks decide to do with the company works out best for everyone. Whether you become a subsidiary of Microsoft, a platform enhancement for Apple or a division of Nokia or Sony. I wish you all the best. My days of supporting and evangelizing your product against the competition are over.

Dylan Pattyn
pin:22CF7293
514 567 7510

Fusion and OCZ - SSD

Interesting technologies

http://www.fusionio.com/

"Fusion-io is a pioneer of a new storage memory platform that significantly improves the processing capabilities within a data center by moving process-critical, or active data closer to the CPU where it is processed. Called shared data decentralization, this significantly reduces latency while increasing data center efficiency. Fusion’s integrated hardware and software solutions leverage non-volatile memory for enterprise-grade performance, reliability, availability and manageability."

http://www.ocztechnology.com/

"Founded in 2002, San Jose, California-based OCZ Technology Group, Inc. has built on its expertise in high-speed memory to become a dominant player in the manufacturing and distribution of solid state drives (SSDs), a disruptive, game-changing technology that is replacing traditional rotating magnetic hard disk drives (HDDs). SSDs are faster, more reliable, run cooler, and use significantly less power than the HDDs used in the majority of computers today.
